WATCH: Prayers to lift frontline workers’ spirits
People from different walks of life and different denominations came together at the Netcare Union, Clinton and Mulbarton hospitals to pray for the frontline workers at the hospitals on February 21.
This was the seventh Sunday in a row people have come together to pray for strength for the nurses and doctors helping to spearhead the fight against Covid-19.
The group has received numerous commendations for the effect their actions have had on raising the spirits of both the frontline workers and the patients.
“Behind closed doors of the hospital and in the ICUs, we as staff have to fight for the patients as well as our own mental and physical well-being.
“The fact that the prayer group openly started, showing people are caring about us and the patients, lift our spirits to continue during these abnormal times,” said a Mulbarton Hospital doctor.
The group prays together at 6.45pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Mulbarton, Clinton and Union hospitals in that order. This coincides with the hospitals shift change and allows them to applaud both the day and night shift staff.
On Sundays, they come together at all three hospitals at 11am. Anyone is welcome to join them at these times.
