Vincent Smith appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on March 9. His co-accused, Angelo Agrizzi, appeared in absentia due to his health concerns but was represented in court by his legal team.
The accused are facing charges of fraud and corruption.
During the proceeding, Agrizzi’s defence requested the court to make amendments to the bail conditions of the accused.
The first request was that the station that Agrizzi has to report to as part of his bail conditions be changed to the Benoni Police Station. The conditions regarding how he should report would not change.
The second request made was left from the court to leave Gauteng during the period from April 18 to May 7. The reasons behind this request were not elaborated upon.
The prosecution indicated that they were not opposed to changes in bail conditions.
The presiding magistrate requested confirmation from the prosecution that the reasons behind Agrizzi’s request to leave the province were shared with them and that they are not opposed to it. They confirmed that this was the case.
The amendments to the bail conditions were granted by the court.
The matter has been postponed to May 28 to provide time for full disclosure to both accused parties. This will also provide the defence with an opportunity to give the prosecution clarity regarding the health conditions of Angelo Agrizzi.
