WATCH: Pad drive at St Mary’s Children Home

She is Power held their second pad drive at St Mary’s Children’s Home on March 6.

One of the founders, Katlego Moeng, said their aim is also to motivate young women about their menstruation cycle, self-esteem, self-confidence and also restore hope in their lives.

“We chose St Mary’s Children’s Home because there are a lot of females who can relate to what most young women go through with the stigma of having boys around and trying to hide their menstruation cycle. We also asked boys to join us and understand how we feel when we have to hide menstruation,” said Moeng.

“We are excited to be at St Mary’s Children’s Home to share our knowledge with young women and to listen to some of their problems.

“We will come to visit the home once again and continue donating pads. Being at this place showed that sisterhood is everything. We bonded with the same energy and it was amazing.”

Their third pad drive will be in April and this time things will be done differently and they want to keep that as a surprise.

“Our goal is to continue with pad drives and travel the country going around donating pads but we do need to get sponsorship of pads to have enough to donate,” said Moeng.
