Meghan Webb’s medical condition has made her life a living hell, but she remains hopeful and continues to live her life to the fullest.
This Verwoerdpark resident was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia earlier this year after suffering from pain most of her life.
“So readers first of all need to know that Fibromyalgia is very hard to diagnose and takes very long. It can be treated with medications and treatments,” she explained.
“My whole life I have always been sick, and I always complain of a sore body and always having low energy. After seeing multiple doctors one of them got to the bottom of it and diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia.”
According to her Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterised by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues.
Living with Fibromyalgia

A day in her life is waking up and drinking a hand full of medication. “Then I just take it hour-by-hour and push through the day. I always try and give my absolute best and to stay as positive as I can,” she said.
When going to bed, she again takes a hand full of medication.
She has always been in constant pain, and she sort of got used to it, but some days just knocked her down very hard.
“I only take more medication if it is necessary.”
She needs to go for regular medical checkups and treatment.
“I live in medical facilities now,” she said laughingly.
Her life changed
Meghan said that she is slowly starting to miss out on more and more things in life.
“I always feel tired even though I have a big fighting spirit. I do try to go out as often as my body allows me to.”
She also lost a lot of people in her life due to her condition, because they would get frustrated with her for always feeling tired and sick.
A Covid knockdown

Meghan tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this year and she said that the virus was heavy on her body and her pocket.
“It took me weeks to get back to normal. My immune system was so weak that I got bronchitis not too long after that. This all costs a lot of money for all the medication and daily medical checkups.
“Covid-19 also set me back financially because I had to get extra check-ups due to my immune system being close to non-existent.”
Even with everything that has happened, Meghan is so grateful to all her doctors and loved ones who have been with her from day one.
Having friends with good hearts
Meghan’s friends started a Backabuddy page to help her to pay for her medical bills.
“They found out that my medical bills started to pile up and that it is just going to keep climbing as I need my medications and treatment.”
Her treatment is very expensive and even though she has medical aid her medications and treatments are not covered by her plan.
Those who want to help Meghan can donate her Backabuddy page.
