Fox Security, as well as members of the Mondeor CPF, arrested two suspects on Friday for allegedly stealing cables from substations in Mulbarton, Glenvista and Bassonia.
Francois Jansen, operations director for Fox Security, said: “As the power went out, Fox Security and Mondeor CPF section one started searching the area and checking all of the substations.
“It was found that a substation in Mulbarton was broken into.
“A search was conducted and members of the CPF started chasing one of the suspects, as they started running when they saw the vehicles. A unit from the CPF apprehended the suspect successfully.
“Info was given to our Fox tactical units as to what the other suspect was wearing.
“Our tactical members then spotted the second suspect as he tried to jump into a property and the second arrest was made.”
The suspects were handed over to Mondeor SAPS.
