He said the NTCE will help in driving the goal of the national tourism sector strategy to create at least 300 000 additional job opportunities in the tourism sector by 2026.

Mahlalela explained during the NTCE media launch held at Suitability Gardens in Midvaal, Gauteng, on March 10 that the NTCE, themed Rebuilding a Resilient and Inclusive Tourism Sector for The Future, intends to help create jobs in the tourism industry.

According to Mahlalela, the NTCE will showcase careers, skills development initiatives and business opportunities that exist within the tourism sphere.

He said since its inception in 2008, it has successfully bridged the information gap between the industry and learners and offered the youth an opportunity to interact directly with potential employers in the sector.
