Alberton neighbourhood watch works with SAPS to fight crime
Alberton AfriForum and the SAPS gathered to eliminate crime in the vicinity.

AfriForum in Alberton collaborated with the SAPS and security organisations in the region to reduce crime on April 5.
In a statement, AfriForum explained the operation’s goal was to enhance visibility, reduce burglaries, and arrest motorists who were under the influence of alcohol.
During the operation, the participants patrolled and manned a vehicle-control point (VCP).
Alberton AfriForum chairperson Louis van Aswegen said they are proud of the cooperation and relationship they were able to establish with the SAPS, this is only possible if there is mutual trust and respect.
“For this collaboration to continue and ensure our neighbourhood watch functions at our best at all times, it is necessary that our members are not only equipped with the right equipment, but also with good training and that is exactly what we receive as part of AfriForum security structures,” said van Aswegen.
AfriForum district coordinator for the East Rand Petrus Coetzee also joined the intervention.
Petrus said they are excited to see how the hard work behind the scenes bears fruit.
He concluded they are grateful to see how solid and good relationships are being built with other role players in the security community, such as the SAPS.
