KAC instils faith to eight primary schools in Katlehong
Katlehong Athletics Club donated school shoes as a way of giving back to the community.
A total of 160 school shoes were donated to eight different schools in Katlehong by Katlehong Athletics Club (KAC) on April 13.
The handover took place at the Ekurhuleni School for the Deaf and eight schools each received 20 pairs of school shoes from KAC.
Schools that received donations include Thamaho Primary School, Mogobeng Primary School, Maitjibulo Primary School, Keketso Primary School, Nokulunga Primary School, Hleziphi Primary School, Abram Hlophe Primary School and Ekurhuleni School for the Deaf.
On December 31, 2021, the club hosted a run and asked runners and the community to donate school shoes.
The club approaches school principals every January to help in identifying learners who are in dire need of school shoes.
According to the chairperson of the KAC, Hloni Motloung, the foundation has donated more than 600 school shoes since it was initiated.
“We believe a new pair of shoes should be tough enough to protect a young child’s feet whether it is on the playground, on the sports field or even walking home in the middle of winter,” Motloung said.
The initiative will continue again during the winter season.
The community is still welcome to make donations towards this ongoing project. For more information, contact Motloung on 071 637 7990.
