City’s department restores Alberton Dam

The Alberton Dam is part of Naidoo’s Integrated Development Plan to restore it to its normality.

Thanks to the City of Ekurhuleni’s (CoE) water and sanitation department, Ward 37 councillor Ivan Naidoo’s plea has not fallen on deaf ears.

Shortly after Naidoo visited the community’s much-loved Alberton Dam, the CoE’s department went out to restore the overflowing sewers.

The Alberton Dam is part of Naidoo’s Integrated Development Plan to restore it to its normality.

This according to Naidoo is part of the City’s back-to-basics approach.

“After we reported the issue last week, the department sent out a truck and the blockage was completed, cleaning still needs to take place. We have an ageing infrastructure and that is going to cause sewer spillages because we haven’t upgraded our infrastructure with all the developments taking place,” said Naidoo.

He reiterated that an investigation is underway to possibly find out the underlying cause of the pollution of the dam.

“It’s part of our priority list to get things done and we are asking the community to back us up so that we can get things done in the City. There was no tender in place for potholes and we have now got that sorted out. We have also had sabotage in our infrastructures and these are some of the issues we face in the City,” Naidoo said.

He thanked the community for their vigilance and appealed for them to be patient with service delivery issues.
