Thaba Eco-Challenge aids local charities

Local charities received certificates together with funds raised from the Thaba Eco-Challenge event which took place on March 27.

Money raised from the Thaba Eco-Challenge event powered by Balwin Properties and Group 1 Nissan the Glen, which took place on March 27, were handed to charities .

The official handover was held at the Thaba Trails Cycle Hub on April 28.

The SOJO Business and Tourism fun-filled charity event was in aid of Dignity Dreams NPO, Stepping Stone Hospice, Outreach Care and Rotary Johannesburg South 101.

Communities had come together for an incredible walk, run and an ultimate mountain bike race at the stunning Thaba Trails.

On the day, they handed over certificates together with funds raised for the various charities, equally handing over R6 450. Few winners of the various challenges were also invited to collect their prizes.

“It was the first time that we hosted an event as such. We are honoured that Balwin Properties and Group 1 Nissan the Glen came on board as our main sponsors. Some of our other sponsors were Del Forno Lemon Tree, Gold Reef City, Uvex South Africa and our media partner was Icarus Media,” she said.

She reiterated that the event included food vendors, other market stalls, a children’s play area and wonderful live entertainment.

“Every event that SOJO does is for charity and that’s our biggest reward, to give back to charities. Our charities equally received shares of the profits after all our expenses were paid. It’s been a wonderful exercise and we are looking forward to hosting it again next year,” said Vakaloudis.

The event was aimed at promoting Johannesburg South as well as boosting tourism.
