WATCH: Violet celebrates her 80th birthday with Pick n Pay
New Redruth Village's Pick n Pay showered Violet Castelyn with the best birthday surprise party ever on April 26.
New Redruth Village Pick n Pay in Alberton recently celebrated a loyal customer’s 80th birthday at the store.
Violet has been a faithful customer for over 15 years.
She and her husband, Frank, have been Alberton residents for over 46 years, now residing in Verwoerd Park.
According to Violet, the reason they chose to shop at the store for so many years was because of the service they receive from the employees.
“Every time I come to the store, I get the best possible treatment. I am proud to say the store makes my life easier because they make me look forward to doing shopping.”
Staff and managers of the store also gathered to celebrate Violet’s milestone.
The customer service manager, Mpho Moalusi, told the RECORD this serves as reassurance that they are indeed a community store and are loved by the Alberton residents.
According to Moalusi, Frank came to the store a day before the actual date of the birthday and alerted them that his wife will be marking her 80th birthday on April 26.
“As they are our regular customers and have been shopping with us since we opened the store, we felt the need to commemorate the day by doing something special for her.
“As Pick n Pay, one of our values is that we care for and respect our customers because they play an important role in making us the best store,” Moalusi said.
Some Pick n Pay customers also showered Violet with presents and finances to make her day even more special.
Violet added she grew up in a family of 10 and one thing she learnt was endurance and to stay true-hearted to the ones special to her heart.
According to Moalusi, they are planning to continue with this initiative for all their deserving customers because they believe it is only fair to treat everyone with the same respect.
For every round-number birthday, the store is planning to celebrate it with their loyal customers. Violet and her husband were taken to Wimpy for breakfast.
The Castelyn family extended their gratitude to the Pick n Pay family for giving them such an incredible birthday experience.
