WATCH: Dr Kimberly keeps her promise
Dr Kimberly also promises some new exciting development at La Rochelle Primary School.
Four years ago Dr Kimberly Quillman, who is an US pastor, promised to help La Rochelle Primary School with their challenges.
On May 10 she donated school uniforms to some of the learners and spoke about new great things to come.
She was welcomed by songs and dance moves from the learners and teachers, led by principal Jonas Sehoana, SGB chair Mfanelo Ncaphiya, Sanco Youth Desk leader Xolile Nyhila and Sanco chair in Ward 57 Anele Nziweni.
Ten learners, boys and girls, received uniforms and it was part of the promise she made when she first visited La Rochelle’s Apostolic Faith Church in June 2018.
Sehoana thanked Kimberly for her great gesture. She was given a bouquet and a thank you card with her photograph from the school.
Ncaphiya said he appreciated what Kimberly did for the school.
She said whenever she is in South Africa she will come here and make a difference. With the money she donated we bought school uniforms for those who needed it most, he said.
Kimberly said she was excited to back at the school.
We were unable to come earlier because of the pandemic. We are now back with full force with the backing of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. The school will move forward in leaps and bound.
She said the following to the learners:
Take your learning and studying seriously, as knowledge is power. When you get your grades and passed them, it gives you the opportunity to an awesome and great future, not just for you but your family and your generation to come.
Understand the importance of paying attention to your teachers so that you can take those skills to the world and shine bright like a diamond, and have the best future that God allows you to have.
Also I want to thank the principal for the great job he has done. You are the more respectful learners. And please work hard towards the end of the school year. The renovation, remodelling and great things are coming to the school in the couple of months. It is an honour to be part of La Rochelle Primary School, she said.
