Frontline workers honour International Nurses Day

A group of nurses and social workers went out to Alberton Mall to commemorate International Nurses Day and to raise health awareness.

In observance of International Nurses Day, a group of nurses and social workers visited Alberton Mall on May 12.

The team from Ekurhuleni Clinical Forensic Medical Services of Bertha Gxowa Care Centre took a day out to raise awareness of societal issues.

They also conducted health examinations. The team was later joined by a team of psychologists.

Operational manager, Hazel Moagi, said they conducted blood and sugar level tests for those visiting the mall.

“We created awareness on GBV, rape, human trafficking and domestic violence. We also taught the community about the importance of reporting GBV cases and the significance of reporting rape cases within 72-hours,” she said.

Moagi said they often go to malls, schools and taxi ranks.

Shoppers were given educational talks as they made their way to the mall.
