Pikitup distances itself from job scammers

Be vigilant of job scammers before you pay.

Pikitup has learnt with dismay about a scam meant to defraud desperate unemployed people of huge sums of money based on empty promises of employment in the company.

Muzi Mkhwanazi, the spokesperson for Pikitup, said they place on record that it has advertised a number of positions meant for internal staff only.

“A number of job seekers have also visited Pikitup offices to ascertain whether it was acceptable to pay between R1 000 and R5 000 for those positions. They were advised not to pay anyone for the positions and to report such criminal activities to the police.

“Pikitup wishes to advise prospective employees to be on the lookout for its vacancies on its website, the City of Johannesburg’s website and national newspapers,” he said.
