Alberton Child Welfare educates residents on how to become a foster parent
Alberton Child Welfare conducted a presentation to residents of the greater Alberton about how to become the temporal foster parent to a child.
The newly established children’s haven, Purple Willow, along with Alberton Child Welfare, invited residents for an information session on how to become a foster parent.
Purple Willow is a beacon of hope that is sheltering and safeguards young victims of abuse, who have to be removed from their families in crisis times.
According to ward 106 councillor Timothy Denny, he is looking for a five-year commitment from businesses or individuals who can assist in maintaining Purple Willow and keep it going efficiently.
The session provided individuals with information about the need in the Alberton and surrounding areas, and the protocols and statutory procedures for a foster parent.
Nonhlanhla Ngubo said it is important for children to grow up in a healthy environment, hence, they put children’s needs first.
“We will place a child regardless of how the house looks like, as long as it has been thoroughly inspected by authorities and when we are sure that the child will be in a safe environment and will be catered for,” Ngubo said.
The meeting took place at the Alberton Child Welfare.
Potential foster parents were later taken to the haven where children will are temporarily kept before handing them over to the safe care or foster parent.
