First snare hunt at Klipriviersberg Nature reserve a huge success

After the talk a brief hunt was conducted due to the chilly weather with some snares being found by the volunteers.

The first snare hunt at Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve was held on May 21.

The day started with a talk by Kailen Padayachee, from Kainav Conservation Foundation, about snares, wildlife poaching, the illicit bush meat trade and how it all links up with snares.

The day was organised by Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve Association (KNRA) with the help of Bianca Coetzer and Devon Marais.

The talk, along with the snare hunt afterwards, helped with educating the public on how they can help stop poaching in the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve.

Unfortunately, a snared animal was found by one of the volunteer groups.
