Salome Teixeira keeps individuals warm this winter

Salome Teixeira, an Alberton resident, knits beanies to help challenged individuals keep their heads warm during winter seasons.

A Silwerkroon resident stepped up to keep individuals warm during this winter by knitting beautiful beanies.
Salome Teixeira donated 75 beanies to an NPO on June 10.

Teixeira has been knitting beanies for almost a decade to make a difference in winter.

According to Teixeira, God has been good to her and she feels the need to give back to the community of Alberton.

“A lot of people do not worry about the individuals that are homeless, orphaned, less privileged or the children, so I feel it is important to at least have a beanie that can keep your head warm,” said Teixeira.

The knit master donates her pieces of work to two local charities that provide for vulnerable people.

Teixeira stated that every year she knits these beanies and gifts them to other organisations and she makes every effort to get wool donations.

She would be grateful if anyone could donate more wool to help her reach more individuals.

She has knitted about 1000 beanies since she started this initiative where she knits two beanies a day.
