Alberton Lions assists new mothers and their babies

Alberton Lions continues to lend a helping hand to those in need through their Mommy Care Bags project.

To welcome spring, Alberton Lions and community members came out in support of the club’s Mommy Care Bags project on September 3.

Attendees took part in a walk which was aimed at bringing awareness to Alberton Lions’ Mommy Care Bags project, and also getting donations for the project.

Named Walk for a Purpose, the pleasurable walk took part in Alberante at Japie Greyling Street.

Alberton Lions pack and donate 25 mommy care bags weekly to the new moms at the South Rand hospital. The care bags have toiletries for the new mothers as well as knitted goodies, a blanket and a teddy for the baby.

Tammy du Plooy of Alberton Lions said: “Many of these new mothers do not have anything for their babies, so this project makes a great difference for the new moms and their babies. All mom and baby donations are welcome, we are in specific need of nappies, sanitary pads, Vaseline and baby soap.”

Should anyone be willing to assist with donations, they may contact Tammy du Plooy on 082 371 7053.
