WATCH: DA lays assault charges against EFF members
The DA recently laid assault charges against EFF Councillors following a scuffle in Council at the OR Tambo Government Precinct in Germiston on November 30 and so far no arrests have been made.

Germiston SAPS has confirmed that a case of assault has been laid by the DA against EFF councillors following a scuffle, which broke out at the sitting of the ordinary council meeting.
The EFF reportedly stormed the DA benches and began to push, manhandle and assault DA councillors. It is understood that Councillor Victor Lukhele was shoved to the ground, kicked and stomped.
Chief whip of the ANC, Jongizizwe Dlabathi, said that they were disappointed that the council meeting had to be adjourned.
DA Gauteng provincial chairperson and member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Frederik Nel, confirmed that five women councillors were injured.

The African Christian Democratic Party has since condemned the council brawl, stating that, “Before the meeting was even opened, EFF members started howling and approached the DA benches in a very intimidating way.
“Since November 1, 2021, there have been many disruptions in council, but this was the worst case of all.
Councillors were physically abused. We have heard that one DA councillor was taken to hospital and we saw a video of him lying on the floor being kicked by EFF councillors,” explained Clr Tambo Mokoena of the ACDP.
He said councillors are elected to make service delivery happen and to represent residents.
“We have platforms where we can express ourselves without using our fists or our feet. There is no excuse for violence,” Mokoena said.
The Alberton Record has reached out to EFF Gauteng media and communications spokesperson Dumisani Baleni, who has promised to consult with the ‘leadership’ and revert.
