Armed robbery suspect arrested in Alberton
CPS Security managed to apprehend at least one suspect out of four after robbing women in front of a store in Alberton.
A suspect in an armed robbery was arrested at Voortrekker Road in New Redruth, Alberton after a high-speed chase ensued between a white Volkswagen Polo Vivo and CPS Security.
According to the sales director of CPS Security, Tyrone van der Merwe, one of their off-duty tactical members saw the suspects’ vehicle with four occupants robbing a group of women in front of a nearby store on Alberton Boulevard, which sparked a high-speed chase.
“Back up was summoned as the car was being pursued,” said Van der Merwe.
Two of the suspects leapt from the car on Redruth Street, while the other two continued escaping the scene using the car at high speed.
“Out of the two suspects who jumped off the car, one was apprehended and the other managed to flee the scene,” Van der Merwe said.
Also, the getaway car and the suspects in it managed to escape.
Alberton SAPS were contacted and the suspect was taken into custody.
