High-speed chase ends in 6 arrests for business robbery

The Kliprivier SAPS and security companies demonstrated the effectiveness of joint efforts in combating crime.

In a daring operation, the Kliprivier SAPS and security companies apprehended six suspects after a high-speed chase on Old Johannesburg Road on September 18.

At about noon, a Toyota Corolla travelling at excessive speed collided with a truck. The six occupants, allegedly involved in a business robbery at a Meyerton bottle store, opened fire on the pursuing security guards.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspects had committed the robbery before leading authorities on a dangerous chase.

The law enforcers found firearms in the suspects’ possession.

District commissioner Major General Nkhensani Lemba applauded the members for apprehending the suspects and confiscating dangerous weapons.

The community is urged to continue reporting criminal activity and avoid involvement in illicit endeavours.
