Dramatic chase from Alberton to Palm Ridge leads to arrest of armed robber

A swift response from Alberton’s security teams ended a tense pursuit through the suburb, as a suspected armed robber was cornered and arrested in Palm Ridge.

A dramatic high-speed chase through Alberton’s southern suburbs ended with the arrest of a suspected armed robber, thanks to quick coordination between Fox Security’s tactical unit and Afri Guard Security.

The incident began when a panic alert was triggered from a local business at a filling station in Mayberry Park.

According to Francois Jansen, director of Fox Security, an armed suspect driving a white Volkswagen Polo without number plates allegedly robbed the premises at gunpoint before speeding off.

Fox tactical officers, who were in the area, spotted the suspect’s vehicle leaving the scene and immediately gave chase while calling for backup.

The pursuit stretched from Mayberry Park’s southern routes, heading toward Palm Ridge. Afri Guard security officers, who had been alerted to the chase, strategically positioned themselves near Palm Ridge to intercept the fleeing suspect.

The vehicle was successfully blocked and stopped, and the suspect was apprehended without further incident.

Upon searching the vehicle, security officers recovered a firearm, stolen cash and a laptop. Further investigation revealed that the suspect has been linked to several recent armed robberies in the Alberton area over the past week.
