Stolen tyres recovered in Alrode as CPS Security, SAPS bust hijacking operation

A swift joint operation between CPS Security, SAPS Highway Patrol and Fox Tactical stopped stolen truck tyres from leaving Alrode and uncovered a hijacked truck in the process.

Residents in Alberton and the Alrode industrial hub woke up to a breakthrough in the fight against crime on December 9, when a coordinated security operation stopped the transfer of stolen truck tyres and led to two arrests.

CPS Security’s Tactical Team led the operation, working in coordination with the SAPS Highway Patrol and members of Fox Security.

SAPS investigators and other role-players were still on the scene by mid-morning, confirming the status of vehicles and securing evidence.

According to CPS Security, information came through the Crime Communication and Information Network (CCIN), alerting teams that truck tyres stolen earlier in Benoni were being offloaded at a site in Alrode.

Tactical units moved in quickly, interrupting the suspected handover of the stolen load to another truck.

The bust took place in Alrode, where high-value goods transportation is frequent, and criminals often attempt fast transfers to avoid detection.

The tyres were reported stolen earlier on Tuesday morning.

CPS Security confirmed that one truck found at the scene had been positively identified as hijacked.

The swift cooperation between private security and SAPS prevented further distribution of the stolen load and may provide leads on additional suspects.

“CPS Security remains committed to rapid response and strong collaboration in the fight against organised crime,” said the security company in a statement.
