The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) confiscated goods from non-compliant shops during a by-law enforcement operation in the CBD on October 8.

The operation, conducted between 09:00 and 13:00, involved the EMPD’s By-law Compliance and Enforcement Unit, along with officials from Economic Development, Environmental Health, and City Planning.

According to the EMPD, officers visited 10 shops at Alberton City Mall, Alberton Mall and along Voortrekker Road to check compliance among businesses selling perishable goods.

Six of the 10 shops were compliant, while some of the remaining businesses had expired Certificates of Acceptability (COAs).

The EMPD urged business owners to ensure they have the required documentation to operate and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
