City of Ekurhuleni to discuss automated bus fee system

The City of Ekurhuleni is set to introduce new automated bus fare systems to the locals.

The City of Ekurhuleni is inviting all bus passengers in Alberton, Katlehong, and Vosloorus to public meetings to unveil a brand-new automated bus fee system that will replace the current ticketing system.

The system intends to improve and secure the city’s revenue collection procedures while also making travel easier for customers and preventing fare evasion.

As a result, after the new system is put into place, passengers will no longer pay the bus driver directly; instead, they will use a bank-issued card that adheres to the EMV (Europay, MasterCard/VISA) protocol.

The meetings will take place on December 7 at 18:00 at the Alberton Town Hall (1 Alwyn, Taljaard Avenue) and also on December 8 at 18:00 at the J Dumani Hall (257 Nguza Street, Vosloorus).
