SEK Kids spread festive cheer with others
As part of making someone feel special during festive season, Spiritually Empowered Kingdom Kids proudly hosted the community Christmas Party on December 14.
Spiritually Empowered Kingdom Kids (SEK Kids) hosted a community Christmas party for more than 120 kids in Eden Park on December 14.
SEK Kids was founded in 2011 as the result of the community facing many social ills and the entity had a vision of overcoming those.
The founder, Mercia Scheepers, said that they gathered, prayed, memorised scripture and spoke on how to handle peer pressure.
They also talked about gender-based violence, substance abuse and Covid-19 preventative measures, and enjoyed Christmas carols. The children attended in numbers and found a place of belonging with a positive identity.
“All of the aforementioned encouraged me to draft proposals and look for door-to-door sponsorship. I’m so happy that it was a great success. We gave them their smiles back. We gave them the best Christmas party with everything sponsored,” said Scheepers.
SAPS addressed the children on preventative measures against some of the social ills within Eden Park’s community.
