An appeal to the public to help find relatives of deceased man
Homeward Bound Funeral Home is appealing to the public to help find the relatives of the deceased man
In the month of July, a young man by the name of Jeremia Bekker approached Homeward Bound Funeral Home in Turffontein asking for their assistance.
He requested that the funeral home fetch the body of his deceased father, Jeremia Bekker, in Roodepoort. The deceased passed on July 27.
The funeral home attended to the request of the young man. The body of the deceased has been kept in the mortuary awaiting confirmation of the funeral arrangements from the son of the deceased.
After five weeks and counting there has been no contact made about any funeral arrangements.
The staff of the funeral home has attempted to contact the son of the deceased but there has been no response.
Funeral home director Matlakala Dlepu said: “The body is now starting to decompose after a month of being kept in the mortuary. We are concerned. There are many complications that come with a decomposing body.”
Homeward Bound is asking any relatives of Jeremia to come forward and assist with the burial of the deceased.
“The body is decomposing rapidly and we are appealing to the public or relatives of the deceased to come forward and kindly assist. The next step would be to get permission from the government to bury the body,” said Dlepu.
Contact the funeral home on 011 683 4630 to assist.
