ERSTCOMBUS Projects NPC visits local vendors in Eden Park

Businesses in Eden Park were visited by ERSTCOMBUS Projects NPC and the Informal Business Forum to investigate if they were selling healthy, fresh and useable items to consumers.

Under the supervision of Erstwhile Community and Business (ERSTCOMBUS) Projects NPC, the Eden Park Informal Business Forum completed the fourth Consumer Goods Verification Audit.

In the wake of numerous press announcements concerning poisoned consumables and fatalities, the forum continues its groundbreaking effort that began in Eden Park in 2014 to ensure that locals purchase healthy food.

According to the chairperson of the ERSTCOMBUS, Johannes Goliath, local retailers signed a consent form where they agreed Eden Park and the neighbouring neighbourhoods would not tolerate the sale of outdated

merchandise to customers. As a result, traders will show their dedication to health laws by consenting to routine audits of products to determine if they comply with their manufactured shelf life.

“Office bearers of the forum and a representative of ERSTCOMBUS conducted the periodical audit of the local vendors. ERSTCOMBUS issued Certificates of Compliance after they completed the verification process. Each certificate will be valid for four months from the date of audit’ and then the office bearers will again visit the stores,” said Goliath.

They strongly urged traders to keep an eye on the cash and carry or shops from which they get their items.
Goliath emphasised the store is nonetheless accountable for keeping an eye on the items they sell for usage or consumption in the neighbourhood.

“We advise all unaudited traders to continue inspecting every item because the community-based audit crew will be present throughout Eden Park and not leave until all informal traders have completed their business. If the audits proceed as anticipated, we will create a comprehensive report and make it available to community platforms by mid-December 2023,” Goliath concluded.
