EMPD’s festive season operation ensures motorists’ safety

A stop-and-search operation was conducted by EMPD in New Market on December 8.

The EMPD Social Crime Prevention Unit held a stop-and-search crime prevention operation on Heidelburg Road and written notices were issued to offenders.

The aim of the operation was to check whether motorists were prepared for the festive season and to ensure that they complied with the rules of the road.

During the operation, at least 130 vehicles were stopped and searched, 80 people searched and 20 written notices for various transgressions were issued to motorists who were not complying with the law.

The crime prevention operation is ongoing, during and beyond the festive season and through their visibility.

The EMPD intends to reduce the number of crashes and accidents on the roadways.
