SACDG celebrates their ups and downs for the year in style

The South African Cake Decorators Guild celebrated their year end function and honoured their executive members for their undying love for the group.

In celebration of their wonderful year, the Gladiola Botha branch of the South African Cake Decorators Guild (SACDG) held their end-of-year function at the Dutch Reformed Church Hall in Verwoerdpark.

SACDG was established as a non-profit organisation in 1976 to foster the development of the cake decorating industry by hosting shows and demonstrations across the country.

The Alberton branch, Gladiola Botha, was named after one of its first founding members.

Deon Swarts and Isabel Marques of the South African Cake Decorators Guild.

According to Deon Swarts, the branch’s public relations officer, SACDG remains the foundation of cake decorating in South Africa. It has been a tough yet beautiful year for them as a branch and thus is why they felt the need to show appreciation to their members, especially the executive team.

A token of appreciation was given to all the executives.

“Without the willing role players who made up the executive, we would not have been able to uphold our high standards, raise membership, enhance public awareness, or encourage evaluations for those aspiring to teach or serve as cake decorating judges,” said Deon.

The Gladiola Botha branch members get together once a month to share their expertise, passion, and knowledge of sugar craft. Everyone interested in cake decorating is welcome to join, regardless of experience level.

The members enjoyed the day celebrating every achievement and setback they encountered this year.

Deon thanked all attendees and encouraged them to continue believing in themselves as they owe themselves that much to conquer whatever may come their way.

The attendees feasted on a delicious lunch while sipping cold beverages as the day carried on.
The group also took some freshly baked biscuits and cakes to Methodist Homes Prim Villa for them to also their Christmas well.
