The suspect were arrested near Jackson Dam.

In a swift response to a suspected theft, CPS Security guards at a local shopping centre in Jackson Street, Brackenhurst, apprehended an individual believed to be involved in the incident.

The security team at the shopping centre became aware of an unknown male picking up a cellphone from the floor.

“Acting promptly, they monitored the individual’s movements as he left the premises. Meanwhile, the rightful owner of the cellphone reported the theft to another security officer within the centre,” said Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director of CPS Security.

The security personnel intercepted the suspect near Jackson Dam and detained him on suspicion of theft. Following protocol, the suspect was transported to the Brackendowns Police Station, where a formal case of theft was opened against him.

Residents are reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to local authorities or their local security company.
