Living in Dreamland book officially launches
A book about a personal account of determination could make you never want to stop dreaming.
He goes from honourable speaker to reciting a poem. Thavha Maifala-Masebe, also known as the councillor for Ward 38, has launched his book, Living in Dreamland.
“I had to push myself because there are times when even dreaming is painful,” said Thavha.
He said everybody sees you reach your dream or sees you at the top of the mountain, but they never see you in the valley.
Living in Dreamland is a first-part autobiography about Maifala-Masebe and his story of determination.
“Some people say I was born to be a writer, and I would have argued this in my younger days because I hated reading, so I never thought I would be a writer,” said Maifala-Masebe.
Sharing how he began writing, Maifala-Masebe said he has a natural skill for writing, an element woven in him that even when experiencing pain, he finds it easier to use his words on paper.
“I find it easier to express myself through words. It didn’t start as me realising I liked writing; it started back when I was in boarding school, where I started writing poetry, which later developed into script writing in college,” said the author.
His story begins as a child who had a dream and dared to dream.
What is Living in Dreamland?
The book tells the story of the author’s journey from his childhood to his years at boarding school and the struggles he had to deal with, to his journey through college and where he is today.

The book is a testament to the author’s determination at the start of his journey in life and his journey of writing because studying, reading and writing were challenging for the author at school. However, by believing in himself, he accomplished one of his many dreams.
He wrote the book to inspire readers to believe in themselves and their dreams, reminding readers that they can find hope in any circumstance. When people did not think he would make it possible, they would whisper behind his back, “There he goes… living in dreamland again,” but he continued to live whatever he imagined.
The book launch was a success because friends and family came out to support the event. HOT 102.7 radio presenter Mzi Kaka was the host, warmly welcoming the guests and actor and author of Raising Champions, Nelson Molapo, shared words of encouragement.
“It feels great to have accomplished and completed my book, and I look forward to the next one,” expressed Maifala-Masebe.
He hopes his story of determination inspires the readers and those who dare to dream.
