Miss South Africa visits Alberton students

The educational advocacy campaign has given a student the chance to study further.

Reigning Miss South Africa Natasha Joubert was in Alberton this week visiting students at her alma mater, Boston City Campus, and meeting the recipient of her educational advocacy campaign, the Natasha Joubert Collective.

Thanks to Joubert, Dineo Letty Galane from Vosloorus will be studying for a higher certificate in marketing practices.

Joubert launched a partnership last year with Boston City Campus which gave 16 South African learners, aged 18 or older, a one-year academic scholarship to study at Boston City Campus.

These scholarships were for distance e-learning studies towards a full-time undergraduate qualification. The Study Buddy Fund also partnered with the Miss South Africa Organisation to fund another 15 students’ studies at the Boston City Campus.

Galane said: “I think there are some similarities between Natasha and me. In my motivational letter, I said I love helping people and doing charity work and I think she does too.

“I cannot express my gratitude enough; getting this scholarship means a lot to my family and me. University fees have become so expensive, and I honestly don’t know how I would’ve paid my tuition fees if this opportunity hadn’t come along for me.”

Joubert was delighted to meet Galane. “She is determined to make the most of this scholarship and is passionate about what she wants to do and achieve. I am confident that she will accomplish all that she sets out to.”
