Brackenhurst couple cherishes 60 years of marriage
As they grow old together, they change in age but their love for each other remains the same.
Tommy (83) and Grieta (82) Jacobs celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 30.
The couple met in December 1959 at a house party. They dated for four years before tying the knot in 1964. They have been residents of Brackenhurst since 1974 which marks 50 years this year.
“We have been very happy and fortunate, despite the challenges we’ve faced. We are blessed with wonderful children and we have always put in great effort to keep our love flame burning bright,” emphasized the couple.
From seeing the Alberton community develop, raising children and starting a business to growing old together, this couple is a testament to how love and time can make for an eternal, love bond.
They were thrilled to celebrate their anniversary and share their advice with the younger people saying: “It’s not always going to be sunshine and roses so you need to be prepared to stick it out. We are both very impatient but have learnt to understand each other and work as a team.”
