Mayor Xhakaza replaces fired finance MMC
Dunga was fired as Ekurhuleni finance MMC on June 12. Mayor Xhakaza has found his replacement.
Ekurhuleni Mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza found a replacement for the finance MMC position, after his firing of Nkululeko Dunga on June 12.
Dunga has been replaced by Jongizizwe Dlabathi.
Dlabathi is the chairperson of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) in Gauteng and served as the chief whip of council in the CoE after the 2016 local government elections.
Xhakaza removed Dunga for what he said were “unforeseen misalignments” and an aim to “fast-track the completion and approval of the annual budget”.
“I am confident that Dlabathi’s appointment will significantly strengthen our institutional capacity, supporting our efforts to enhance financial sustainability and optimise revenue enhancement in the city,” said Xhakaza.
