WATCH: Alberton-based author hopes his debut book will reach millions of Christians

Koos van der Merwe (78) recently authored and debuted a book called Share Jesus with Joy and Sow the Gospel.

The Alberton-based senior citizen is proof that one is never too old to achieve their dreams.

Having lived in Alberton for 52 years, Koos qualified as an educator at the Goudstad Teacher Training College, Johannesburg Technical College, Rand University, Pretoria University, and UNISA.

He then worked as a teacher, trainer, personnel manager and training consultant for 45 years, and has also been a member of Gideons International in South Africa for more than three decades.

“My passion is to give people hope and to lead people to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour,” said Koos.

“This book is a practical, user-friendly, simple and easy-to-use method to share Jesus with joy.”

Passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience with people, both young and old, this passion prompted Koos to come up with a programme called Share Jesus with Joy and Sow the Gospel.

That programme, and what Koos believes was the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit, ultimately led to the formation and writing of a fully-fledged book.

Local writer and author coach, Anemari Jansen, congratulated and praised Koos for a job well done. “For 20 years, Koos had the dream of publishing and distributing his book.

Our process, from mentoring, writing and rewriting, to having the published product, took us just eight months. I am extremely proud of what Koos has achieved,” said Jansen.

Since the book’s release, Koos has already presented the programme to 24 groups and delivered 22 information sessions, plus more than one thousand people who have heard and experienced the message.
