A teenager drowns at the Alberton swimming pool
“Our hearts go out to the bereaved family at this time,” said a statement from the City of Ekurhuleni.
A teenage boy drowned at the Alberton swimming pool on October 25.
It is understood that the teenager was swimming in the deep end of the pool.
The City of Ekurhuleni commented: “We are aware of the unfortunate incident and our hearts go out to the bereaved family.
“We have trained lifeguards at our pool. What we must emphasise is that our patrons must listen to these professionals as they are there to prevent such incidents,” said the statement.
The CoE encourages people to learn the basic skills of swimming before attempting to swim, listen to the lifeguards as they are there to protect you, closely supervise children around the pool, familiarise themselves with pool sizes, avoid getting into the pool under the influence of alcohol, and ask for help if you feel any threat.
