Joint operation seizes counterfeit Lucky Star pilchards in Daleside raid

joint operation between Crime Intelligence and SAPS has led to the seizure of counterfeit Lucky Star pilchards and illegal printing equipment in Daleside. Seven arrests have been made, while the owner remains on the run.

A joint operation between Crime Intelligence from Zamdela Sasolburg and Kiprivier SAPS led to a significant bust of counterfeit goods in Daleside on November 11.

Authorities raided a property on Eland Street, where they seized a large quantity of counterfeit Lucky Star pilchards, along with printing equipment used to alter product expiration dates.

Seven illegal immigrants were arrested in connection with the operation. The owner of the establishment, however, remains at large.

The counterfeit Lucky Star pilchards were found in Daleside.

Police have opened a case under the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act (Act 54 of 1972) for possession of counterfeit goods, as well as charges under the Immigration Act (Act 13 of 2002) and for possession of suspected stolen property.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
