Green Beans initiative partners with Glenbrack High to strengthen school safety
In a bid to enhance safety and security, Glenbrack High School joins forces with the Green Beans security unit to create a safer learning environment.

In a significant move to bolster safety at local schools, Glenbrack High School had the privilege of hosting the Green Beans, a specialised security unit from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Community Security and Safety Committee.
This initiative, which aims to create safer school environments, took centre stage during a recent school assembly, where the Green Beans addressed students and staff.
The Green Beans shared their mission to reduce violence, prevent crime, and ensure the overall well-being of students.
With their expertise in community safety, the team emphasised the critical role learners play in maintaining a secure learning environment.
Through a series of insightful discussions, the security unit urged learners to actively engage in fostering a safe atmosphere by reporting suspicious activities and promoting positive behaviour both in and out of the classroom.
According to the school’s principal Jerry Motshitela, one of the key messages delivered was that safety is not the responsibility of any one party alone, but a collective effort that includes the entire school community.

“Learners were encouraged to see the Green Beans not only as enforcers of the law but as supportive partners in building a safer, united community. The Green Beans will be working closely with schools in and around Alberton, extending their support beyond Glenbrack High,” the principal said.
Their outreach is part of a broader effort to create safe spaces where learners can focus on their education without the fear of violence or crime. This commitment to the community aims to foster mutual respect, understanding, and collaboration between students, educators, and security teams.
The proactive approach taken by the Green Beans is expected to have a lasting positive impact. It will ensure that learners feel safe and supported, which in turn will enable effective learning and personal growth.
Glenbrack High, with its commitment to safety and well-being, has welcomed the Green Beans with open arms, expressing gratitude for their dedication and support.
“On behalf of the school, the SGB, and the learners, we extended a heartfelt thank you to the Green Beans for their continued efforts to make the school a safe environment for users,” Jerry said.
The school community commended the Green Beans for their dedication to fostering a safer and healthier environment.
As this partnership flourishes, Glenbrack High is optimistic about the positive changes it will bring, not only to the school but to the wider Alberton area as well.
