Alberton Methodist Church Women’s Auxiliary hosts fundraiser for charity

The event was not just about raising funds but also about spreading hope and love. AMC WA continues to give glory to God for using them as instruments to serve the community.

The Alberton Methodist Church Women’s Auxiliary (AMC WA) hosted a highly successful fundraiser on March 21, selling boerewors rolls and cold drinks to support their various community outreach projects.

The event was made possible through the generosity of Alberton Meat Market in Verwoerdpark, which provided not only the venue but also all the necessary equipment, boerewors, rolls, drinks, and condiments.

Their contribution played a vital role in the success of the fundraiser, where AMC WA sold an impressive 192 boerewors rolls and cold drinks, raising much-needed funds for their charitable initiatives.

According to Sandra Human, president of the AMC Women’s Auxiliary, the funds raised will go towards several of their ongoing projects, including the Mommy Care Bags Initiative, which regularly delivers 160 care bags to new mothers at Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital and 50 to Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Germiston.

Additionally, the auxiliary provides rape victim care bags to the Germiston FCS Police Unit to support victims, both adults and children, who are attending court proceedings.

Their outreach extends further, offering aid to the elderly, orphans, and homeless individuals in the community.

“One of the standout moments of the day was the involvement of four young adults from the Healing 2 Others project, who confidently collected donations with their warm and engaging approach. Their enthusiasm significantly contributed to the fundraiser’s success,” said Human.

Human expressed deep gratitude to everyone who supported the initiative.

“We are truly thankful to Alberton Meat Market for their incredible generosity and to every member of the church, community, and our HESWA WA District Executive who contributed.

“A special thank you goes to Rev Jeff van der Spuy and the church staff for their continuous support in promoting our efforts. The need in our community is great, and we are committed to hosting more fundraisers like this because together, we can make a difference,” she said.

As the AMC WA continues its mission, they are appealing to the community for donations of hand-knitted baby items such as jerseys, beanies, and booties, especially for premature babies, as well as toiletries for mothers and victims of abuse.

Good-quality second-hand baby items are also welcome.

“Alberton Methodist Church Women’s Auxiliary needs the community’s support to touch lives and uplift those in need. Together, we can change lives,” Human added.
