Local model lives out her dream at SA Fashion Week
After dreaming for years of walking at SA Fashion Week, Paris Blume recently exceeded her own expectations by walking for five designers. Her inspiring story shows that with hard work and a big dream, anything is possible.
In a moment she once thought far-off, local model Paris Blume has finally lived the dream she’s held closest to her heart since the very beginning of her modelling career: walking the runway at South African Fashion Week.
From humble beginnings and persistent hustle to gracing runways both locally and internationally, her journey is a powerful reminder that big dreams are worth chasing and with grit, support, and faith, they do come true.
Paris first visited the Alberton Record’s newsroom last year to share the exciting news of her selection to walk for four designers at the prestigious Paris European Model Showcase.

Although that milestone carried significant weight in her rising career, she made it clear that one goal still lingered closest to her heart – to walk the runway at SA Fashion Week.
Paris said that to do something from home first is always special.
“It’s been my biggest wish. SA Fashion Week represents where I come from and that means everything to me as a model,” she said.

In February, she returned to our newsroom seeking sponsorship to make her Paris dreams come true, still holding firm to her goal of walking locally first.
Now, just months later, not only has she achieved that long-held wish but she has exceeded it in ways she could never have imagined.
Initially confirmed to walk in two shows over two days, Paris ended up walking in five designer showcases over three consecutive days at SA Fashion Week, a triumph she calls “a dream lived fully”.

“One designer contacted me just hours before the show, extending an unexpected but welcome opportunity to walk yet again,” she explained.
“I only ever dreamed of walking for one designer. To end up walking for five I’m still in awe. Each garment, each story, and each step was magic. Thank you, SA Fashion Week, for giving me this moment.”
She expressed immense gratitude to those who made her journey possible: “To my family, my friends, and to God, thank you. I’m reminded through this that nothing is impossible,” the talented model said.

This major career milestone follows a series of breakthroughs for the young model.
She previously secured a scholarship for tertiary studies, where she now shares the hallways with South African entertainment icon Somizi Mhlongo.
Though international stages hold major promise, Paris’s heart remains rooted in South Africa.
“This is where I wanted to grow first. SA Fashion Week has shown me I’m right where I need to be,” she said.

In a time where young people are often told to be realistic with their ambitions, Paris Blume stands as a bold counter-narrative proving that dreaming big, working hard, and believing with unwavering faith can turn even the loftiest aspirations into lived reality.
Paris told the Record that the next big thing in South Africa is the Miss South Africa pageant.
“When the time is right I will enter the pageant and I am aiming for the title but for now I’m focusing on other things until I am ready for Miss SA,” she concluded.
