Dewitzus residents fear for safety as neglected property becomes dumping ground

Dewitzrus residents complain about a neglected property that makes them feel unsafe

Residents in Dewitzrus have been complaining about the property’s condition that the property owner has not taken care of.

One of the residents in the area says it has been 24 years since the property owner cleaned the property and now it has overgrown grass, uncut trees, and people have turned the place into a dumping site.

“The owner does not keep up with the responsibility of property maintenance. He was forced to clean up; people would cut the grass and weeds at the roots and then leave them there. So what’s the use of them cutting it down and not removing it?” she said.

Residents are fearing for their safety since rats, snakes have started to enter their properties.

“With the illegal dumping, rats breed on his property, and they come to our premises, and it costs us money to deal with pest control,” she added.

One of the biggest problems the community faces is the number of trees growing on the property.

Uncut grass shows the neglect of the property.

According to one resident, the trees have not been maintained for more than 24 years and are starting to get old.

Residents are now starting to fear that one of the trees will fall during a storm and damage their properties.

The Record has tried for weeks to contact and text the property owner to get answers, but he has not provided any.
