Alberton Police Station sees long-awaited renovations
The Alberton SAPS is getting a long-overdue facelift, complete with a new office block and temporary changes to public access.
The Alberton SAPS has undergone renovations since 2019, with progress delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Work resumed in 2022 and is still ongoing, but significant developments have already taken shape.
A milestone includes a new building housing 18 offices, which has allowed staff to relocate while the renovations continue on the original structure.

Previously, the station had nine offices, but the upgrade will double the available office space to improve working conditions.
“We will have enough offices and not have many people in one office,” said Yolandi Alberts of the station.
The increased space will enhance service delivery and reduce overcrowding.
The main entrance to the station is temporarily closed due to the ongoing construction.
The public can enter the station via Fourth Avenue at the back of the premises.
Once completed, the upgraded facilities will provide a more efficient and professional environment for police personnel and the community they serve.
