Rand Water: 16-day maintenance on track despite Emfuleni claims

The water utility urges residents to ignore misinformation and follow official channels for accurate updates.

Rand Water has dismissed claims made by the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) about the status of the ongoing 16-day planned maintenance project, labelling them as inaccurate.

According to Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo, the project is progressing as scheduled. The maintenance forms part of Rand Water’s broader efforts to upgrade infrastructure, boost capacity, and improve plant availability.

“This is critical work aimed at ensuring a more reliable water supply in the future,” said Maroo.

Rand Water has urged residents and stakeholders not to rely on third-party reports but to follow the utility’s official communication platforms for accurate and timely updates.

“Spreading misinformation only creates confusion and disrupts efforts to manage the water supply effectively,” Maroo added.

The utility expressed appreciation to residents for their patience and cooperation during the maintenance period and reassured customers that regular updates would be shared through its official platforms and social media pages.

For verified information, residents are encouraged to follow Rand Water’s official channels.
