LISTEN: Body recovered from Natalspruit River in Palm Ridge
An investigation is underway after a body was discovered.
The body of an unknown adult male was recovered from the Natalspruit near Palm Ridge Ext 7 on July 8.
The City of Ekurhuleni DEMS rescue team, in collaboration with the SAPS Water-wing K9 Unit, responded swiftly to the scene after receiving a call about the body.
Upon arrival, the teams found the man lying face down in the middle of the stream. The rescue team entered the water and retrieved the partially decomposed body, placing it into a skid stretcher. It was then pulled from the river, where paramedics from Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) ambulance services declared the man dead at the scene.
The operation was handed over to SAPS officers, who will continue the investigation and arrange for the body to be taken to a pathology facility.
The cause of death has not yet been determined, and the investigation remains ongoing.
“Our teams found a male in the river who was already deceased. We are grateful for the assistance of the SAPS and GPG ambulance services,” said William Ntladi, DEMS media liaison officer.
“We urge anyone with information about the deceased or the circumstances surrounding the discovery to come forward and assist with the investigation,” he added.
