City of Ekurhuleni cracks down on illegal billboards
Billboard owners face fines and removal costs if non-compliance continues.
The City of Ekurhuleni has launched a clampdown on illegal billboards, including in Alberton.
MMC for Developmental Planning and Real Estate, Nomadlozi Nkosi, said non-compliant billboards will be marked with ‘illegal advertising’ stickers, serving as a warning to owners to bring their structures in line with regulations.
The campaign kicked off in Alberton, with billboard owners given 21 days to contact the city and rectify their non-compliance.
Failure to do so will result in fines, legal action, and possible removal of the billboard at the owner’s expense.
“We are committed to ensuring that our city is a place where businesses can thrive, but we will not tolerate non-compliance with our laws and regulations,” said Nomadlozi Nkosi.
“We urge all billboard owners to take action to avoid any unnecessary penalties and costs.”
