Businesses unite to transform Wadeville: Join the Wadeville Action Group
The Wadeville Action Group (WAG) invites more companies to join this transformative effort.
In 2023, a diverse group of business leaders came together with a shared vision: to drive positive change in Wadeville, Germiston.
Recognising the power of a collective voice, they established the Wadeville Action Group (WAG), a non-profit organisation representing the area’s business community and implementing programmes for improvement and advocacy.
Currently, WAG has grown to 66 members, comprising a diverse range of enterprises, from small to multinational corporations.
The group is united in its mission: to rebuild and strengthen the Wadeville community.
“Each member brings unique value to our mission, contributing expertise, resources, and dedication to our community’s future,” said Malcolm Moriarty, WAG chairman. “Together, we’re creating lasting positive change through collaboration and mutual support.”
WAG’s objectives are broad and ambitious
The organisation focuses on ensuring well-maintained infrastructure, resolving water and electricity outages, prioritising safety, and fostering pride among businesses, residents, and employees.

Through strategic engagement with local government and community stakeholders, WAG amplifies the voices of Wadeville’s business community, promoting accountability and driving noticeable improvements.
While litter removal and greening initiatives are highly visible, WAG’s work goes far beyond.
Its responsibilities include rebuilding infrastructure, enhancing security, improving service delivery, stimulating economic growth, and promoting social well-being.
Great partnerships
The organisation collaborates with the National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC), an initiative of the CSIR, to rejuvenate the area.
Additionally, a memorandum of understanding with the Ekurhuleni Municipality enables cooperative progress on service delivery.
WAG also conducts regular meetings and follow-ups with the City of Ekurhuleni and the local Ward Councillor to address persistent water and electricity challenges.
These efforts remain critical in driving accountability and securing much-needed improvements for Wadeville.
To better understand the local economy, WAG has initiated an economic study quantifying revenue from rates and taxes, business losses caused by service interruptions, and the impact of delayed investment due to infrastructure issues.
Its security portfolio is exploring the costs of a CCTV camera network and control room.
While progress is being made, WAG’s influence depends on expanding membership and strengthening partnerships.

The organisation aims to grow from 66 to 120 members, achieving 51% representation in Wadeville, which would qualify WAG for national infrastructure funding.
Current members contribute time, resources, and services, including:
• Ardagh Glass Packaging – vehicle, office space, financial and communication support
• Videx Mining – vehicle-tracker support, PPE donations, pothole repairs
• SA Tube and Honing – PPE donations, operational support
• Hyco – water supply for staff and services
• Lasher Tools – hand tools and equipment
• O’Reilly Industries – manufacturing waste bins
• Macsteel – office/storeroom space, payroll facilitation, vehicle servicing
• Krost Shelving – procurement services
Moriarty emphasises: “Expanding our membership is a vital step in ensuring WAG has the mandate and backing to achieve ambitious goals and sustain essential services, from daily area maintenance to enhanced security. Every contribution makes a difference in Wadeville’s journey forward.”
