Brackendowns CPF urges community to stand against case withdrawals

The Brackendowns CPF is calling on residents to think twice before withdrawing criminal cases.

The Brackendowns CPF urges all community members to think carefully before withdrawing criminal cases, especially those involving domestic violence and gender-based violence (GBV).

These are not private matters, but they are serious crimes that demand a proper legal response.

When cases are opened and later withdrawn:

• Police and court resources are wasted

• Investigations are disrupted

• Justice is delayed or denied

• Offenders walk free, often reoffending and placing victims and their families at greater risk

The local CPF said that allowing the law to take its course is critical in protecting victims, holding perpetrators accountable and sending a clear message that violence will not be tolerated in the community.

The Brackendowns CPF appeals to residents to stand with survivors, encourage them to follow through with cases and help break the cycle of abuse.
