DopeFlop returns with uplifting single Kwenzakalani ahead of debut LP

Thokoza’s rising talent, DopeFlop Music, drops his latest single, Kwenzakalani, a soulful anthem of resilience and joy, setting the stage for his forthcoming album Super Nkanyezi.

Thokoza-born rising star DopeFlop, real name Joy Mkhwanazi, will again make waves when he releases his new single, Kwenzakalani, which drops on September 12.

The track follows the success of his previous hit, Super Qoh, and acts as a precursor to his LP, Super Nkanyezi, due out in the coming months.

Produced by Jack Love and engineered by DJ Rough, Kwenzakalani is a song rooted in resilience, hope and elevation.

It delivers an empowering message: Life can change in an instant, and it is never too late to rise from adversity and aim for better.

Built on good vibes and soulful energy, the song is reflective and celebratory.

DopeFlop describes the track as an easy-going summer release, encouraging listeners not to wait until life is perfect before choosing happiness.

“You can keep things simple but still have the best time of your life. The single captures that spirit of joy through music, driven by motivation and authentic storytelling,” the artist said.

A star on the rise from Thokoza

DopeFlop Music began his musical journey at the age of 12, stepping into studio recording by the time he was 13. Since then, he has steadily carved a name for himself, performing alongside well-known SA artists Big Zulu, Sjava, Silo Magolide, Musiholiq, Mduduzi Ncube and Lwando Buso.

His earlier single, Siyabangena, became a viral sensation, sparking the #SiyabangenaChallenge on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where it racked up over 1m views.

The track also received radio play on Inanda FM, Vibe FM, Kasie FM and Metro FM.

DopeFlop’s writing process is deeply intuitive.

“Once I get a beat, the beat immediately leads to a vision and an idea of a song. Then, the flow and message of the song are born. This organic approach has helped me connect with a growing fanbase across the country,” he explained.

Blending old and new

A standout feature of Kwenzakalani is DopeFlop’s musical versatility.

The song smoothly fuses the nostalgic essence of kwaito (kasi sound) with the energetic rhythm of trap, showcasing the artist’s ability to evolve while staying grounded in his roots.

As he prepares to launch Super Nkanyezi, DopeFlop remains committed to creating music that speaks to life’s many paths.

He sees his journey as proof that with hard work, vision and persistence, anything is possible.

“Even the smallest steps and moves count. You must start somewhere to achieve your dreams. Taking that one crawl or step means you are already closer than before,” says the ambitious musician.

With Kwenzakalani poised for release and Super Nkanyezi on the horizon, DopeFlop is not just dropping songs but building a legacy, one verse at a time.
