Creative Academy celebrates grandparents with Western flair and ’80s nostalgia

Two campuses hosted themed Grandparents Day events, honouring wisdom, love, and the joy of family connections.

Learners at the Creative Academy on Hennie Alberts Street tipped their hats to their grandparents and great-grandparents with a fun-filled Western-themed celebration.

From homemade treats to games like ring toss, ride the horse, bean bag toss and a gold treasure hunt, the morning burst with joy, laughter and smiles.

“At the Creative Academy, we treasure family and the people who shape our lives. Today was about honouring the heart, wisdom and love grandparents bring into our world. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day unforgettable,” said principal Sara Gomes.

Meanwhile, the Creative Academy on Jackson Street transformed into a time capsule when it celebrated its annual Grandparents Day with a nostalgic 1980s theme.

The morning saw grandparents and their grandchildren team up to craft fridge magnet frames. Laughter and creativity flowed as each pair created the keepsakes, made more special by retro-style ‘80s photographs of the children, capturing the spirit of the day and the joy of family.

The event was more than just a celebration of art; it was a celebration of connection. The setting buzzed with shared stories, warm hugs, and smiles that bridged generations.

Principal Tarryn said, “The staff and children extend heartfelt thanks to all the grandparents who joined and made the day so meaningful.”
